Big Business’ impact on environmental issues/legislation:

Here soon

Why is climate change being ignored?

Well, it may not be anymore. But the primary driving force is undoubtedly money. No one would question that climate change mitigation will be extremely costly (hundreds of billions of dollars at least), so many are hesitant to invest when some doubt still exists. Furthermore, international cooperation is needed, which is inherently difficult. Finally, in the U.S. at least, there are unfortunate and disturbing ties between our government and big industry (especially coal and oil). Given that mitigation would damage these industries, our government is reluctant to take action.
